THE AUTUMN GARDEN AS AN OFFERING (en Español)

Despite the drought we experienced in the area this summer, the autumn has brought quenching rains to the forests and meadows all around as well as the stunning beauty of the turning season. The Abbey garden, now home to the Buddha statue recently dedicated, can be seen as a glorious offering with its splendid rainbow colors of turning leaves, stunning fall flowers, and the little sentient beings who are busily preparing for winter. Here is a little sample of that offering we have made on behalf of all beings.

A rare Colorado blue spruce (at least in these parts), planted by Harold the former owner, sets a striking pose against the yellow maple and aspens below the Buddha house.

One of the last of the roses of the season shows itself. A hard freeze has yet to come to the Abbey garden giving the roses extra time to shine.

The fall asters in the garden flourish in the autumn chill .

A young dogwood tree shimmers with multi-colored leaves set against a brilliant blue larkspur.

The prayer flags recently hung over the circumambulation path around the Buddha statue seem to mirror the brilliance of the garden plantings.

The steps from the house lead very intentionally onto the path into the garden.

The Buddha house looking south from its platform has transformed the whole energy of the garden.

The Buddha appears very much at home in the Abbey"s garden.
