VENERABLE CHODRON VISITS SOUTH INDIA - NOVEMBER 2006

While in South India we paid a visit to Ling Rinpoche, who is now 21 years old. His previous life was the senior tutor of H. H. the Dalai Lama and ordained Ven. Chodron as a nun in 1977.

Friends from FOSA Singapore traveled with Ven. Chodron to Singapore. They were delighted to have the opportunity to meet Ling Rinpoche.

In South India, we also visited Jangchub Choling, a growing nunnery where the nuns are studying the philosophical texts and debating, as well as keeping the monastic schedule with .ujas and work. We were very impressed with the Dharma atmosphere at the nunnery.

Only in recent years have Tibetan nuns had the opportunity to receive the same education as the monks. These young nuns are joyfully engaging in their studies. The nunnery is overcrowded with 170 residents. Due to lack of space, 42 other nuns must live outside the nunnery and cover their own expenses. The Abbey and members of FOSA Singapore made offerings to them.
