"Many of the inmates I correspond with - people who have very little - sent things dear to them to offer to the Buddha statue." - Venerable Chodron.

The mantra rolls are out on the table, together with relics and other objects people had donated to put inside the statue. The Buddha face is covered because it has not yet been filled and consecrated.

Sunday evening, people set up for the next day's activities of filling the abbey's large Buddha statue and smaller statues that belonged to others.

The abbey's thangkas hung out to be blessed. A multi-colored string went from one painting to another and back to Khensur Rinpoche. Friends had donated the large Buddha statue and all of these tangkas to the abbey.
