"… Sravasti Abbey is the Pure Land on Earth…"

  Ven. Bhikshuni Minjia
  Abbess of Manjushri Vihara, Taiwan

Site of the Abbey

Sravasti Abbey sits on 240 acres of beautiful meadow and forested land near Newport, Washington. It is about one hour north of Spokane, Washington, and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

The meadow is high on a hill, and the panoramic view from its top reminds our visiting lamas of Tibet. Sravasti Abbey experiences four distinct seasons, each adding a unique experience for Dharma practice.

The air is clear and healthy and wildlife abounds, providing a refuge for wild turkeys, stellar jays, woodpeckers, chickadees, deer, coyotes, moose, bear, and other forest animals.

About thirty acres of land are meadow. The rest is forested with diverse trees: birch, aspen, tamarack, Douglas fir, grand fir, lodgepole, and cedar to mention a few.
