Next Project: Chenrezig Hall
"When they arrive at Chenrezig Hall, our guests will be greeted with the open arms of the Buddha of Compassion" Next Project: Chenrezig HallPlans are developing now for Chenrezig Hall—a 10,000 square-foot guesthouse with kitchen and dining facilities—the Abbey’s next building project. Chenrezig (also known as Kuan Yin, Kannon, or Avalokiteshvara) is the Buddha of Compassion. With one-thousand arms, Chenrezig reaches out to care for all living beings, and the aptly named Chenrezig Hall will care for all the Abbey’s guests. In addition to the commercial-sized kitchen, the new building will include a reception area, guest accommodations, counseling rooms, a guest library and tea counter, and large multi-purpose rooms for Dharma classes and other uses. An anonymous benefactor has already given funds for a large statue of Kuan Yin, the Chinese expression of Chenrezig who appears in female form, to greet guests in the reception area. We will focus on Chenrezig Hall in 2012. Check this page for updates as plans develop. Read “Why We Need Chenrezig Hall” Here is the site of the future Chenrezig Hall in winter. |
