SECOND ANNUAL YOUNG ADULT WEEK - JUNE 2007
Sravasti Abbey’s second Buddhist Practice and Community Living for 18-25 year olds ended with zany skits around the self- centered thought and offerings to Venerable Chodron for her week of teachings and guidance. The five young adults spent mornings in teachings with the rest of the residents and then had time for group discussions with Venerable Chodron. Lively discussions and sharings continued at the breakfast and lunch table, and afternoons were spent offering service and walking in the forest. The honesty and wisdom of the young adults impressed and inspired all the Abbey residents as well as the guests who came to help out. Some of the youth will return for exploring Monastic Life in August.

Carl and Tsundru try out the fine art of debate posture. There was a lot of healthy discussion and debate for sure during the week.

There’s always a skit after a retreat and the young adults rose to the occasion. Here they recreate a great story Venerable shared about the struggles with the self centered thought in her life.

The sure fire antidote to sleepiness in session is a bowl of cold water on your head. Here the group shows just how it’s done.

In a moment of closeness Tsundru makes a dana offering to Venerable for the teachings and guidance he received during the program. All the young adults made this lovely gesture of appreciation and generosity at the end of the week.
