Sravasti Abbey Reaches Out

Sravasti Abbey Reaches Out (en Español)

The Abbey community does its best to respond to requests to attend conferences and to share the Dharma and the message of compassion, peace, and harmony. Here are a few samples of those marvelous opportunities.

Ven. Chodron speaks at the Mother’s Day Sunday Service at Gardenia Center in Sandpoint, Idaho. Folks loved the idea that all beings have been our mothers.

Venerable visits with Pam and Ed from Sandpoint, who have helped with the Abbey’s forest project.

There was a lot of interest in upcoming Abbey events

Some of the community spend the day at Havermale High School in Spokane where the students ask many great questions.

Tracy, Yeshe, and a Havermale student agree that Dharma is “good stuff.”

Holocaust-survivor, award-winning teacher, and public speaker Noemi Ban teaches compassion when she tells her own life story. Some of the community join her and friends for dinner after hearing her speak at Eastern Washington University.

Noemi studies an Abbey brochure while Ven. Chodron explains a little about our work. Noemi would like to visit some day. We hope she will come!

Venerables Chonyi, Semkye, and Jigme travel to Southern California to receive
teachings from His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Unfortunately His Holiness is delayed,
but the nuns enjoy the fine alternative program concocted quickly by host center
Ganden Shartse Thubten Dargye Ling.

Despite not seeing His Holiness, the nuns and Dharma friend Leah love spending time with Venerable Chodron’s dad, who spoils us all like his own daughters.
