Katok Getse Rinpoche Visits the Abbey

Katok Getse Rinpoche Visits the Abbey (en Español)

Back to 2011 Gallery

One of the Nyingma traditions’s most highly respected and well loved throne holders, Katok Getse Rinpoche, visited the Abbey this month. Along with Lingtrul Rinpoche and Lama Lekshe, Rinpoche took great interest in the Abbey grounds, buildings and community life as Ven. Tarpa and the rest of the community toured the property with them. Lama Lekshe kindly translated for Rinpoche during lunch when he reminded us of how fortunate we are to have such conducive circumstances for Dharma practice and encouraged us to take full advantage of the opportunity. It was a great honor to have him with us, and we invited him to return in the future.

Ken welcomes Getse Rinpoche with the traditional khata offering.

Ven. Chodron escorts Lama Lekshe into Ananda Hall after the group pays their respects to the Buddha.

Getse Rinpoche takes a keen interest in the many beautiful holy objects that reside in Venerable’s writing studio.

All the lamas said they would like to spend some time in our new retreat cabin where it is so quiet and the view is clear and expansive.

Ven. Tarpa shows our guests the old log cabin which is getting remodeled.

Rinpoche asks many questions about the Abbey and our monastic life here, and Ven. Tarpa gladly responds.

As we get ready for lunch, Venerable and Lama Lekshe both offer each other the best seat.

We request Rinpoche to kindly give a Dharma talk after lunch, and he shares his wisdom with us.
