Dallas’ Ordination (en Español)

Dallas Becker, one of Sravasti Abbey’s full time residents and a long time student of Ven. Chodron, took novice vows on August 26th becoming Ven. Thubten Samten, the Abbey’s seventh resident monastic. With 50 friends and supporters in attendance, including all the participants in this year’s Exploring Monastic Life program, it was a truly auspicious day.

Achala keeps a close watch as Ven. Chodron begins
the ceremony of the head shaving. This ceremony
signifies Dallas’ aspiration to subdue her attachment
to the world’s external view of beauty and her
aspirations to cultivate her inner beauty.

Friends chant the Buddha’s name as we watch the ceremony.
