Retreat Cabin Update – AprilRetreat Cabin Update – April (en Español)Back to 2010 GallerySpringtime finds Ven. Jampel and Tsundru back at work to construct the two-room retreat cabin, which will soon offer comfortable accommodations for our visiting teachers and their translators or attendants. In the past, when lamas such as Khensur Jampa Tegchok Rinpoche or Khensur Geshe Wangdak Rinpoche have visited the Abbey, they have stayed with our neighbors seven miles away. Completely equipped with bathrooms, showers, and a kitchenette, the retreat cabin will also be used by guests and residents for private retreats. ![]() The cabin sits below the barn, accessible to Ananda Hall and the meditation hall. ![]() Ven. Jampel helped designed the cabin and is doing much of the contruction himself. ![]() Tsundru is Ven. Jampel’s able assistant for this portion of the build. ![]() They make a great team. ![]() The waste lines and septic connection are complete. ![]() Ven. Jampel tightens a fitting into a place. He wears a mask to protect against mold and dust in the crawl space under the cabin. ![]() Tsundru measures the space for the shower to be installed. ![]() Braces hold the new shower in place until the glue dries. ![]() The next step will be to insulate and hang sheetrock inside the cabin.
