CARING FOR BIG TREES<
CARING FOR BIG TREES Back to 2009 Gallery
The Abbey has many large conifer trees as well as a beautiful old apple tree. Recently we hired a Frontier tree Service to remove some dead, damaged and overgrown tops and branches. We captured some of their work.

The fir tree is over 60’ tall so John uses a bucket truck to get Johnny, his climber, up into the tree. It saves time and is safer. |

Johnny is ready to remove the dead top. The crew thinks it might have been struck by lightening. |
|
Clear the decks! The dead top falls away from the tree.

Johnny then uses the bucket to limb some of the very long branches that may break with lots of snow. |
|
John and Billy begin work on removing a lot of overgrowth on our old apple tree. It will allow sun and rain in to keep the tree healthy.

A summer haircut it is. Many apple buds are just beginning to bud.
