MOVING DAY

MOVING DAY

Back to 2009 Gallery

Passing inspection with flying colors, Gotami House is now ready for the Abbey nuns and lay women residents. With all hands on deck, the furniture gifted to the community is brought to the new building. Finding a place for the items donated by many people takes most of the day, but at day’s end it looks like a home!

Haroldina, the Abbey’s sturdy pickup, is filled and ready to go.

Our Venerable Abbess heads back to the house to take care of other important matters leaving the placement of the furniture in very competent hands.

But will it all fit? Venerable Jigme and Dallas get ready to bring the items into the house to find out.

A kind benefactor has donated new mattresses for Gotami House, and Tsundru and Katya get them safely indoors.

Kevin and the gang take a break trying out the new mattresses.

Tsundru, Michael, and Venerable Tarpa take a much needed rest before continuing on with the move.

Easy does it! Venerable Jampel and Tsundru carefully unload a beautiful hutch.

The new furnishings provide a simple yet cozy environment.

The new library, furnished to provide a space to study and write and, yes, enjoy the view.

Venerable Semkye enjoys the quiet environment for studying.

John Perry brings his backhoe into the meadow to level and carve out a safe path to Gotami House.

Using our small footpath as a template, he widens it and brings it right to the main house.

The first layer of woodchips keeps the path dry during the summer rains. It will be added to and finished soon.
