Kathy Childs came for a week to help her
partner Dave, the lead carpenter for the
writing studio. They were a great team
and had some wonderful, funny
stories of their travels to share.
The sliding glass door for the studio was heavy enough to require a whole team
of volunteers to lift it up in place. We had lots of help that day as you can see!

Joan, Tracy and Chris take a moment before they lift the slider into place.
With the slider in, Dave and Joan can now
put the beautiful cedar siding on the
front of the studio.
With 3 people on the siding it's going up quickly!
Joan's wonderful humor and heartfelt enthusiasm has been a blessing at the Abbey
these past few weeks.

Less than 24 hours after she arrived, Linda
from Vancouver B.C. has already proven to
be a huge gift to the writing studio crew.
The beautiful bay window was the last window to be placed in the studio. Through
it you feel like you are sitting in the great weeping willow tree growing near by.
After the electrical work is complete it can be inspected along with the framing.
The exterior of the writing studio is almost done. The roof has been finished, all
the windows and doors installed, and siding has been put up on 2/3 of the studio.
The view of the west side of the studio from the back of the house. It tucks in
nicely into the landscape.
The view of the studio from the south side. It has a good size crawl space that will
be used for seasonal tools and supplies
Another view of the studio from the south. The dead plum tree on the right has
been pruned and will be a structure for climbing roses and clematis
