Venerable Chodron offered a mandala, a symbol of the universe, to Khensur Rinpoche before the teachings began.

Despite his advancing years and slowing walk, when Rinpoche gave the teachings on the Precious Garland, he radiated great enthusiasm, compassion and joy.

Just between Dharma friends. The Venerables Steve and Chodron shared a hearty laugh brought on by a story from Rinpoche who has known them both for over 25 years.

Students prostrated as Rinpoche settled into hall. The prostrations were a form of respect to the Buddha and the Dharma that he left to the world.

The Shakyamuni Buddha statue seemed to take on a glow as the week of Rinpoche’s teachings progressed.

Rinpoche and Vajrasattva are shown here. Together they both encourage us to purify negative karma and afflictions with the 4 opponent powers.

A number of the local folks came to the teachings on the weekends which made for a cozy atmosphere in the meditation hall.

Part of The Precious Garland teaches on the 12 Links of Dependent Arising, which describes the cycle of life for all beings in samsara. The abbey has a thangka showing the suffering of beings caught in the cycle.

Fortunately those of us trapped in cyclic existence have the glorious merit field to guide and inspire us to free ourselves from the 12 Links. A thangka of the merit field adorns the hall also.
